CDH Hosts 2nd Annual Alternative Advent Fair

Cretin-Derham Hall's 2nd Annual Alternative Advent Fair was held on December 14, 2007, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Commons at CDH. The event featured a number of fair trade items, including Nativity scenes, chocolate, musical instruments, coffee, greeting cards, jewelry, books, toys, posters, candles, ornaments, purses and much more. There were also a number of opportunities for charitable giving. P1010016

"We wanted to give students options for Christmas giving more in keeping with the spirit of Advent," said Lou Anne Tighe, Vice President for Mission. "I believe the students (and the faculty, staff, parents and friends who also attended the event) liked the idea of giving something that was more of an expression of their love for other people than a frenzied accumulation of stuff." Celebrate the Dash Carnival a Big Hit!

The CDH Student Council sponsored a "Celebrate the Dash" Homecoming Carnival on the North Baseball Field on the evening of September 19, 2007. The event was part of Homecoming Week festivities (which included a day devoted to dressing "like it's 1987"), and was the students' way of kicking off the year-long 20-year celebration of the founding of Cretin-Derham Hall. The "Cretin Dash Derham Hall" t-shirt offered for sale at the carnival is sure to become a collectible! A big thank you to the CDH Student Council and the faculty and staff who helped make this event possible. Cretindashdh

The Story's in the Dash

This school year marks the 20-year anniversary of the merger of Cretin and Derham Hall High Schools. The story's in the dash--those years between 1987 and 2007 when a merged school grew to become the largest Catholic high school in the state of Minnesota and a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Cdh_20yrsfCDH will be observing this milestone with a number of activities scheduled throughout the school year. On May 17, 2008, a celebration will be held for the entire CDH community, so mark your calendars now. Watch this site and other publications for further information.
