President's Advisory Council Spring Meeting

The President's Advisory Council (PAC) Spring Meeting was held at Cretin-Derham Hall on May 13, 2008. The focus of the meeting was the Teaching, Learning, Communicating (TLC) class at CDH, now in its 10th year. Math/TLC teacher, Tom Cody '71, was the guest speaker. P1010125_2

CDH Social Justice Opportunities for Alumni/ae

Cretin-Derham Hall teachers Amy Bellus '90 and Ann Marie Froehle are inviting alumni/ae to join a social justice trip to Kenya in the summer of 2009. The group will be traveling to Rabondo, an area in Western Kenya, where Father John Forliti '54 has made many friendships with villagers and community leaders. The group will fly into Nairobi and travel 150 miles west by bus. Much of the time will be spent at St. Timon's secondary school, and a short safari is also planned. The trip will cost approximately $3,000. For more information about the town of Rabondo and the people, click here.

CDH Hosts Reception for Br. Basil

Cretin-Derham Hall hosted a reception for Br. Basil Rothweiler, FSC, who is moving from the Christian Brothers Residence to the Little Sisters of the Poor. Basil2_3 Br. Basil, the former principal of Cretin High School, as well as the former president of St. Mary's University of Minnesota, is pictured with a number of guests at the reception, including (clockwise) Andy Bischoff, Jim Runyon '94, Tim Teuber, Jerry Kline '96, Steve Williams, Ardys Pertz and Lou Anne Tighe. Everyone in the CDH community wishes Br. Basil continued good health!

Alumni Celebrate at Cretin Banquet

Nearly 500 alumni and friends of Cretin and Cretin-Derham Hall gathered at the annual Cretin Alumni Banquet held in the CDH Field House on October 11, 2007. John Mueller '61 received the Bishop Cretin Award in recognition of his service to his community and to CDH, and for his career achievements. Br. Michael Lee Anderson, FSC, was recognized with the St. De La Salle Award for his outstanding service to his community and ministry. Dennis Denning '62 was inducted into the Cretin Athletic Hall of Fame, and John Griep was named an honorary alumnus.

Derham Hall Alumnae Celebrate at Annual Brunch

The Annual Derham Hall Alumnae Brunch was held at CDH on September 22, 2007. Among those recognized at the event were alumnae award recipients Jane Leyden Cavanaugh '81, the Hour Glass Award; Betsy Keyes '74, the Hugh Derham Award; and Gretchen Stein '73, the Carondelet Award. Also recognized were the Classes of 1957 and 1982 for creating endowments which will serve students at CDH in perpetuity. Kraftrydell

New Scoreboard Installed in North Baseball Field

From left: Phil Bettenburg '76, David Bogie '82, Jim O'Neill '74 and Paul Molitor '74 posed for a picture below the new scoreboard that was installed in the north baseball field in the spring of 2007. Bettenburg and Bogie, co-owners of North American Systems, Inc., provided funding for the scoreboard, which is located in center field behind the CDH bushes. The State Championship years are noted on the scoreboard, as is the year Paul Molitor was inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame. Molitorscoreboard
